# Deskless Not Voiceless with Workplace by Facebook

The working environment has undergone massive changes in the past 20 years. From separate offices to open spaces and video conferences enabling remote workers - it’s a **win-win situation** for everyone! But the most important **way of communication** within many businesses remains stuck in the past
With the fast development of technology, employees need a better, more efficient and faster way to share information, ideas and best practices so they can **reach their maximum potential**. Often the deskless workers are forgotten in this process and feel disconnected from the main office. The responses of 2,000 decision-makers and 2,000 front-line workers, confirmed that we need to **reconsider** the way we communicate at work because the disconnection between employees is still a major issue.
## Why is this an issue?
Connection not only enables employees to speak more but also gives them the **freedom** to choose what to speak and connect about. The lack of effective communication tools provided to employees prevents the realization of innovative ideas and discourages employees to share their thoughts. Not only that, but employees often **feel less valued** and **heard** when they can’t express themselves. When ideas aren’t shared, they are also not implemented quick enough which can lead to a loss for the company. This is how **disconnection at work stops the full potential** of the employees, especially the deskless ones.
What also is a problem, that managers often think they are aware of the disconnection problem but this is usually far from reality. Managers **often don’t fully understand the collaboration problems** that employees are facing at work and

Some employees might be deskless but they **shouldn’t be voiceless**. Closing the disconnection gap between employees might seem challenging, but definitely not impossible. That leaves the question on finding a solution to this challenge and how to leverage it into the organization?
