AirAsia has hosted its first hackathon event on 18 – 19 March at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. AIRVOLUTION 2017 is AirAsia’s inaugural regional hackathon that aims to spearhead innovation in the Asean region. Up to 100 talented individuals have participated on-site in the 18-hour event.

GoPomelo as a Google Cloud Premier Partner in APAC, joined this hackathon event and helped to provide information on how to leverage ideas and transform products by using Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes kicked off the event with a welcome message in which he told that AIRVOLUTION 2017 allows AirAsia to gather the connected generation and helps the company to come up with new talents and creative solutions that will help to improve the airline industry.

About 20 teams from 10 countries participated. Each team had created new products or solutions that address a challenge. The selected challenge for AIRVOLUTION 2017 was “How do you profile AirAsia fans based on their digital social footprints to improve customer experience?” All teams had to complete within a specified time, using cloud solutions from AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Google Cloud Platform the best solution for the winner
Here is the winner!, Aviato from Singapore who uses the Google Cloud Platform.They were awarded a grand prize of RM25,000 cash, 100,000 AirAsia BIG Points and five return flights to any AirAsia destination.
